Day 2 took us 5 or so miles off-shore to Elphinstone reef, one of the best known sites in the Red Sea.
We arose early (6 am) with the intention of being first into the water. (Long gone are the days when you might expect to be the only dive boat at an Egyptian Red Sea dive site…) The light on the first dive was fairly low, as you can see from the footage.
Visibility, in common with most of the sites we visited, was fantastic – easily 25 metres or more. Unfortunately, that meant it was easy to see that there weren’t many pelagics or larger fish to be seen. Apart from a couple of gray reef sharks at the limit of visibility around the north of the reef, most of what we saw was the smaller animals shown in the video.
Still, a beatiful site nonetheless.
