MV Hurricane: Day 4 - Big Brother

The dive site, that is, not the hideous TV creation.

The wind continued to howl and the current along with it. We attempted a morning dive on the wreck of the Aida, located on the north west corner of the island. Getting down without being swept away was a challenge. The top of the wreck lies at around 28m. Given the conditions, most of us took a look at the wreck and then settled for a drift down the west wall.

Trying to reach the Numidia on the north point was even tougher, but more rewarding. The reef around here was stunning and you could sense the vibrancy of the environment. Watch the bubbles in the video and you’ll see the current running – we didn’t have that long to hang around before drifting off, again down the west wall.

Mario and Caroline, our guides on the Hurricane, had told us about a school of fish that resides near the jetty: they provided some nice opportunities for the photographers on the trip.

Again, no big pelagics other than glimpses of grey reef sharks and whitetips from time-to-time.
