About this site

Alice and I moved from London to Boulder, Colorado in March 2007. Prior to that, we spent most of our holidays scuba-diving, and that’s what this site was mostly about.

However, given that Boulder is more or less 800 miles to the nearest ocean in any direction, plus the fact that Colorado has an incredible amount to offer (far, far more than just the skiing at Breckenridge and Vail that I suspect most British visitors would be aware of), we’ve ended up spending most of our spare time exploring the US.

Prior to moving here, we were on the point of deciding to get into underwater photography in a big way. However, after a lengthy budgeting session at Ocean Optics, we discovered that the price tag was, well, let’s just say somewhat eyebrow-raising. (Not being one to shy away from gratuitous technology purchases, that’s no casual statement for me.) First steps for high quality UW shots: a decent SLR, digital of course. And so I acquired a D200 plus a few lenses.

This kit has toured a fair amount of Colorado and some other parts of the Southwest over the past 18 months, and some of my favourite images are collected here.

During 2008, I had the pleasure of spending a chunk of time in Dublin, Ireland with my work. We managed a few trips away at weekends to see other parts of the country (never having been to Ireland at all before 2007, despite growing up in the UK.) Some images from that time are also shown.

Finally, with family and friends in the UK and Australia, I’m starting to collect some photos from there too.

For the record, any views expressed here are mine and may not represent those of my employer.

If you’re looking for the old scuba web-site, it’s here.
