Independence Monument

Independence Monument

December 2008

Independence Monument at dawn (on the left of the shot) on New Year’s Eve. The combination of dawn light, sandstone and snow is quite magical.

Independence Monument is part of the Colorado National Monument, located south west of Grand Junction, Colorado. The Rim Drive Road was constructed during the Great Depression as one of the infrastructure projects intended to provide some economic stimulus and support.
