Forresters Beach
We decided to hire a car for our last day in Sydney yesterday and head off to explore some of the Central Coast.
Forrester’s Beach is a location I discovered courtesy of Flickr contact Brent Pearson who rates it amongst the very best of the Sydney area coastal locations. Brent has also written a fantastic location guide (available here), which is invaluable for the one-shot trip, i.e. when you’re arriving at a location for the first time in the pitch dark having had no opportunity to scout it out ahead of time.
We had the place to ourselves photographically. Only the surfers kept us company. I can see why this spot would draw photographers back time and again – there are endless opportunities to work here.
We wended our way slowly back to town, carving out time for lunch at the wonderfully situated Cottage Point Inn located inside adjacent to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
“National Park” is a term that Australians appear to throw about fairly freely – there must be nearly a dozen such designated areas within an hour’s drive of Sydney. Haven’t quite worked out the meaning of the designation, but it appears not to have the cachet that America’s NP system enjoys.
