Snake River Overlook

Snake River Overlook

September 2009

Something of a digital nod to one A. Adams, this image is a blend of five exposures in Photomatix converted to black and white in Nik Silver Efex Pro.

Snake River Overlook is one of the best known views in Grand Teton National Park. The scene is somewhat less effective than it was in Ansel’s day, given that the trees to the left of the frame in the foreground have grown tall enough to obscure the perfectly formed snaking bend in the river, that in its day, provided the ultimate lead-in line to one of the most spectacular mountain peaks in North America.
